Good Land Supply, a Division of Brew City Brand

We love to tell our story, so believe it or not, below is the abbreviated version.

History

Brew City Brand was established in 1986 as a retail kiosk located in a downtown shopping mall in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The concept came from Rick Keppler who owned a small art studio at the time. Keppler used his creative and innovative ideas along with the talent from his art studio to create amazing graphics for apparel, posters, mugs and other locally themed products. This creativity and amazing artwork are still a major part of what separates Brew City Brand from others to this day.

Keppler soon realized that college for his two sons, Frank & George, was looming in the near future. Rumor has it that he didn’t want to pay for the two tuitions, so he had both kids quit their paper routes and he enlisted them to work the kiosk and start creating ideas for merchandise. “Remember, you have to pay the t-shirt printer in thirty days, so the ideas have to be great! They need to sell,” Keppler would remind his sons. ‘The ideas have to be great’ is a mantra that still resonates throughout the company to this day.

As part of the locally themed merchandise that the Kepplers sold at their kiosk, they obtained licenses to produce their own apparel for legendary local companies Miller Brewing Company and Pabst Brewery. Eventually Miller saw the strength in the creative approach that Brew City Brand had to offer and they asked them to offer their merchandise to the Miller distributor network on a wholesale basis, nationally. Around this same time, George & Frank also wanted to offer their line of nostalgic beer apparel to other retailers nationally, and they invested in a booth at the national apparel trade show MAGIC. This was the beginning of Brew City Brand becoming a wholesale company as well as a local retail entity. By the way, there was love and fights and some chaos along the way since two brothers and a father were all working together. Call George, Frank or Rick anytime and ask for a good story .. they have a few.

So, the Kepplers moved their offices two blocks down the street to a larger location in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward, bought a manual t-shirt press and the rest, they say, was history!
